The Liberia Community Association of Rochester (LCAR) is a nonprofit organization rooted in compassion, community, and cultural pride. Founded by a group of dedicated Liberian individuals and families in Rochester, Minnesota, LCAR was built on the belief that a united community is a stronger community. We are your neighbors, your fellow Liberians, and your partners in building a life of belonging and purpose in Rochester.
LCAR exists to foster and advance a spirit of care, charity, and moral integrity within our community. We provide support, and recreational opportunities for individuals and families – while preserving the rich culture and heritage of Liberia in Minnesota. Through responsible stewardship of our resources and a commitment to civic engagement, we work alongside local institutions in the City of Rochester to ensure that every member of our community has access to meaningful connection, support, and opportunity.
We serve Liberians and friends of Liberia in Rochester (Minnesota) and the surrounding communities; including families and individuals, young and old, newly arrived and long established. Whether you are looking for cultural connection, community support, youth development, or simply a place to belong, LCAR welcomes you. Our doors are open to all who share our values of compassion, inclusiveness, and the spirit of togetherness.
A compassionate and united Liberian community where care, love, and moral benevolence uplift every individual, and where families and non‑families alike find belonging, support, and opportunities to preserve Liberian heritage and culture, strengthen their immigrant connections, integrate into the broader Rochester community, maintain family and economic stability, and remain law-abiding.
To foster and advance the preservation of Liberian heritage, supporting immigrants, youth leadership, education, community service, cultural celebration, economic empowerment, charity, law-abiding community, and recreational opportunities for individuals and families. Through responsible stewardship of the organization’s resources and shared spaces, we work effectively to fulfill LCAR’s mission.
